Since the price of food is soaring, it’s becoming more popular than ever to grow your own food. From plants that thrive in greenhouses such as chillies and tomatoes, to veggies that like to be outdoors like carrots and pumpkins.
It’s very on-trend to grow your own food and cook from scratch. People are much more careful about what goes into their bodies these days, so home-grown food is having a moment.
Not only is it incredibly rewarding to be able to eat what you grow, it has lots of health benefits and works out cheaper in the long run.

2. A Garden Bar
With entertaining at home replacing the popularity of going down the pub, it makes sense that garden bars are taking off.

If you love seeing pollinators in your garden, consider catering to them specifically. Bees and butterflies are lovely to see in a a garden, so look into having plants that will attract them.
Fragrant flowers are popular with pollinators and guests alike. They will look and smell lovely, attracting insects during the day, and perfume your evenings of entertaining friends when the sun goes down.

I don’t want to insult anyone’s tastes, so if I list something you like, don’t let that put you off. I’m only hear to tell you what trends are on the up, or on the out. This isn’t gospel, and you should really choose a garden that makes you happy – regardless of trends.
Hot Tubs
Hot tubs have had their moment and I think we’ve all collectively moved on as a society. They’re quite high maintenance to keep hygienic, and quickly become a germ-fest if you can’t keep up with the cleaning schedule.
They also just end up sitting there doing nothing in winter, however much you tell yourself they’re warm enough to use all year round. Have you even stepped out of a gorgeously toasty hot tub into a snowy garden? No? You don’t want to!
Fake Grass
Sure, fake grass can look neat and you never have to mow it. The problem comes when it’s been down a few years and it starts to look very… unrealistic. I know people vacuum it, and brush it, and spray it with all kinds of things to revive it, but if you’re going to put in all that work, wouldn’t you rather just have real grass?
Plus, if you have a dog, it’ll definitely pee on your fake grass and the smell will be hard to shift.
Fully Paved Gardens
This is a tough one, because if you buy a house that has a fully paved garden, there a lots of things you can do to make it aesthetically pleasing. You don’t need to rip it up and start over.
However, I would steer clear of fully paving your entire garden if it isn’t already. The huge rise in price of materials has made costs shoot up, and I think for the money you’d spend on paving it, you can make so many other, more pleasant upgrades. I do think prices are to blame for the downturn in this trend, but I still think you need to take looks into account.
Paving isn’t as low maintenance as you think, either. Weed grow through the cracks and clearing them can end up being a weekly job in the height of summer.

Ultimately, garden trends can be taken with a pinch of salt, but I’d still recommend you choose a garden bar over a hot tub, or a seating nook over fully paving the whole space – but maybe that’s just me!
